If you’ve never been to the DIA, go! Not only is the building itself BEAUTIFUL but the exhibits are great. (Nice adjective, huh?) Currently, the Avedon Fashion Photographs 1944-2000 exhibit is being showcased.
Last Friday night’s event was comprised of 3 designers: Sarah Lapinski of Wound Menswear, Brit Moore and Jeannine Shinoda. The theme of the show was Poet Warrior. This meant that there was a lot of fun accessorizing on the runway (think: bow & arrows + face paint that reminded you of your Pilgrims and Indians feast day in fourth grade. Did anyone else have that at their elementary school? :)) I particularly like the hairstyles that accompanied the look. (See pic below.)
The afterglow party was pretty cool too. Paintings and photography from local artists were up for your viewing pleasure, DJs spinning and the complimentary Vitamin Water & Vodka mixed drinks were a nice little addition. (Glaceau was an event sponsor.)
If you missed the show, (and want to check it out), you’re in luck! A viewing party is being held this Friday the 18th at the UFO Factory in Eastern Market- watch it projected and splashed across the walls!
