The game of poker is also thought to have originated in the American colonies after French settlers brought it to the Americas.
In five-card poker, there are 10 ways to win a hand. The first way is to get a straight (five cards of one rank in order). The second way is to get a flush, which is five cards of the same suit. In a tie, the highest card breaks the tie. In addition, the highest card outside the four-of-a-kind breaks the tie, but only if the other hand has a higher-ranking high card.
